Kapitan Keling Mosque

Kapitan Keling Mosque, in Georgetown, Penang, is an excellent example of Moorish Islamic architecture. Originally built before 1800, it was constructed to offer a place of worship for Islamic Indian soldiers of the East India Company. Originally a single storey building, it was given its British Moghul Revival style in a renovation in 1916. It is one of the architecturally and historically significant buildings in Penang that have given the city its new designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
