Lichen Covered Mile Marker

During the Industrial Revolution the road between the silk mills of Macclesfield and the commercial centre of London was known as the Silk Road. Today all that remains is a muddy track across the desolate Peak District moorland, but the old stone milepost has survived to remind us that we are only 164 miles from London.
