Baby Giraffe
Six week old baby giraffe. Giraffes are the world’s tallest mammals, and the largest ruminants. They can run at speeds of up to 55km per hour, and can defend themselves with powerful kicks that can shatter a skull or break a spine. The only predators that pose a serious threat are lions. Giraffes eat the twigs of trees, especially acacia, and they also eat grass and fruit. They can survive without water for long periods.
