Bergenia

Closeup of a Bergenia flower cluster in early Spring. Common names include pigsqueak and elephants ears. This member of the family Saxifragaceae is often used as a rhizomatous ground cover, particularly in out of the way corners of the garden which might be awkward to weed. The large leaves remain attractive after the spring flowering.
