Indian Paintbrush
The Scarlet Indian Paintbrush (castilleja linariaefolia) is a popular and familiar wildflower that grows across most of the United States and southern Canada. They are an important source of nectar for hummingbirds. The bright orange or red bracts conceal an inconspicuous yellowish flower. The plants are partly parasitic, receiving some of their nourishment from the roots of other native wildflowers and grasses.
