Isaiah Davenport House, Savannah
Much of Savannah’s architecture was demolished in the 1930’s and 40’s, and many of the historic squares were destroyed by the addition of extra streets and fire lanes. When an attempt was made to tear down the 1821 Isaiah Davenport House, a group of seven Georgia women formed the Historic Savannah Foundation to preserve the city from further destruction.
