Kinabatangan tributary stream connecting to Oxbow Lakes

The narrow creek through the jungle leading to the Kinabatangan Oxbow Lakes, Kinabatangan River, Sabah, East Malaysia. The passage is only accessible by boat during the rainy season. The Kinabatangan is Sabah’s longest river, 560 km. Monsoon rains create a giant floodplain that is home to a wide variety of plant and animal life. It is considered the best place in Southeast Asia to see some of the rare and endangered species that inhabit the area.
