Kirkham Priory Ruins
Kirkham Priory was an Augustinian Priory in the Derwent Valley near the Yorkshire Wolds. Surprisingly little is known about the priory, perhaps because Augustinian priests were somewhat overshadowed by their Cistercian and Benedictine brethren. During World War II, Winston Churchill made a secret visit to the ruins, where D Day landing vehicles were tested.
