Round houses, Veryan, Roseland, Cornwall
Five round houses in Veryan were built in the 19th century by an eccentric missionary, Reverend Jeremiah Trist, for his daughters. He was certain that by building houses with no corners, there would be nowhere inside where the devil could hide. A crucifix on the top of the thatched roof added extra protection.
