Ruined Castle on the Sky Road, Connemara
The ruins of Clifden Castle from a viewpoint on the Sky Road, Connemara, Ireland. Although ancient in style, and looking romantic with its ivy covered walls and crenellated towers, the castle is relatively modern, having been built as a country house in the eighteenth century in Gothic Revival style. It was lived in for less than a century before the owners fell into bankruptcy and the house was abandoned.
