Victoria Crowned Pigeon (Goura Victoria)
Victoria Crowned Pigeon (Goura Victoria). Distinguished from the similar Western Crowned Pigeon by the bright white tips on its lacy crest. Found in lowland and swamp forests of Northern new Guinea and surrounding islands. This large pigeon is evaluated as threatened on the ICUN Red List of Threatened Species due to habitat loss and overhunting. It is gregarious, very tame and easily hunted for its tasty meat and for its plumes.
