Sumatran Tiger, Panthera tigris sumatrae
Smallest of the remaining tiger subspecies, found only on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. Critically endangered, with between 100 and 500 left in the wild. Habitat loss and poaching are continuing to reduce the remaining wild population of this genetically unique tiger. They have webbing between their toes and are fast swimmers, often driving slow swimming prey into the water to capture them.
