Thirlestane Castle, Lauder, Scotland

Renaissance architectural influences can be seen in the Scottish Baronial Style of Thirlstane Castle. The Maitland family has owned the impressive fortress since its beginning in the 13th century. It was extensively rebuilt in 1590, and transformed several more times to become the stately home that we see today.
