Tourists on the edge of the Grand Canyon, North Rim
Three young people sit on the edge of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon near Cape Royal. The beauty and grandeur of the scenery is remarkably free of barriers and safety fences, but sadly, every year some foolish tourists slip and fall, often to their deaths. There have been more than 50 fatalities from falling since the 1870’s. The most recent occurred in August of 2008. Standing or sitting on the edge of any cliff or rocky outcropping is always risky.
